Boys in my class are complaining about being made uncomfortable by my feminist speech about the objectification of women and rape culture. Good. I want those boys to feel as uncomfortable about the things I deal with daily as I am uncomfortable dealing with them. I want them to get angry about me making them uncomfortable, so someone will do something about the source problem. I want them to be horrified by me telling them about being blamed for crimes perpetrated against you. I want them to be distubed by the blatant misogyny that happens every day in casual conversations. I want them to feel sick about the jokes about rape and domestic violence occuring right in front of them that they never cared about before, because it’s a woman’s problem, right? Not anything to do with men, right? They don’t commit rape or domestic violence so it’s not their problem, right? Wrong. And if you disagree, fuck you and the privelege you rode in on.
